"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. - Dream." “Mark Twain”: Sometimes we hold on for dear life to those things that need to be released and WHAT WE really need to let go of. Our Humanity tells us it’s easier to stay with what we know; fixed in our comfort zones rather than launching out into the boat to chart new waters, to take a risk, to step out and take that leap of faith, to follow the dream divinely inspired in the deep recesses of our soul. And if we happen to make our way on to the boat and feel ourselves leaving the harbor, panic motivates us to throw out the anchor and tie the boat down. How true it is, Mark Twain said it most excellent, “throw off the bowlines” and sail away from your safe harbor. In case you’re not familiar with a bowline; they are the sailing lines/ropes with a tight fixed knot that forms a loop for holding the sailboat in place bringing it to a halt. In other words it’s that rope you have a firm grasp on; that thing you’re hanging on to for dear life, where you’ve tied a knot or maybe a double knot to anchor you down into a safe place. AHA! It has only served to keep you parked while paralyzing and immobilizing the dream and the destiny on the inside of you. Would you really want to leave this earth with your song still buried inside you? Most of the time, it’s just our mindsets that keep us from accomplishing our dreams. We become what we perceive about ourselves. There’s a proverb that says “As a man thinks, so is he“! I am familiar with a well known actress who has had a long successful career in Her father instilled a concept in her from her childhood that she could never fail, that everything she would attempt in life would thrive. She didn’t know fear because she didn’t comprehend failure. She really did believe and still does that the world is her oyster. If something didn’t go right, she merely made adjustments, took on the challenge and looked for the solution. Either way she was a winner because she lived fearless and showed up for life! Our upbringing may have been much different. Maybe our beginning wasn’t so great but we can sure make a new decision today that will produce an amazing end. It’s not how we start but how we finish that counts. We should all be inspired to reach higher, daring to live life boldly, empowered by faith, believing the future is limitless. What would you attempt to do right now if you knew you would succeed without limitations? It might take some rewiring but we certainly would find a better life. There are times we just need to invest in our selves seeking a lifestyle that becomes the driving force of encouragement that ignites and revives divine inspiration. I guarantee you it will change your life and you’ll never be the same again. Perhaps there is a dream that’s been lying dormant on the inside of you that you have set aside or given up on because the challenges seemed impossible. You can make that dream a reality if today you will make a decision to get a plan and provoke yourself to do something you have never done before. Do something that intimidates you and break past the barriers that have held you captive. It’s time to get fired up and renew your faith in yourself, your life, your talents, your gifts, your dreams and yes in God and even in people. There are people that will be sent to you along life’s journey either for a season or a lifetime that will have a tremendous impact on your life, possibly opening many doors. We go through stuff and can find ourselves in a place where we need a little help in reigniting our spiritual flame. There are things you have never imagined for yourself, but God has! He wants you to see them too. His desire for you is to co-create with him and begin charting new waters! He wants to show you from this moment on that dreams combined with faith and fearless action have tremendous power! That there is more in store for us than we can even know. So where do we begin? First ask God to give you a vision for your future; it may come through dreams, times of meditation or life’s little coincidences that are merely God setups. Begin to write things down, make a vision board with those things that represent what you are envisioning for yourself, your goals and dreams. Get a plan; begin speaking those things until the reality becomes rooted in your spirit. You have the power to change your atmosphere. Put your vision board in a special place where you will look at it everyday. Then decide if your decisions and or steps are taking you further away or getting you closer to it. Begin from where you are today and watch how things evolve. If you’ve gone through some life changes and the uncertainty of what’s going to happen has crushed and overwhelmed you, it’s easy to go the wrong way in your emotions and fall prey to the tauntings of your thoughts. It is time to put an end to those trespassers and take ownership of your mind. Trash those old tapes and put in a new one. We can create all kinds of illusions about the unknown and then we go about making it happen. That works for the good and the bad. “It’s the law of attraction”! When change happens, begin to see it differently. Change is merely an exchange; you are leaving one thing to receive another. It’s like taking a plane to arrive at a particular destination and sometimes on the journey we end up having to change planes; leaving one to board another. Unexpected change can cause a person to spend years grieving over what was left behind or lost. We end up stuck in a place we never wanted to be and end up missing the plane. In other words it was never in the plan for you to remain in that place; the reality was it was only a place for you to pass through. So get back on board! There is a greater destination on the horizon! In the words of Mark Twain, “Throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, Catch the wind in your sails and explore the dream!”

Helen Keller wrote these powerful words: "When one door of happiness closes, another opens. But often we look so long at the closed door, that we don't see the one that has been opened for us." |
